What makes The Queens Head so special?
Built in 1590, the Queens Head is a charming and stylish country pub in the picturesque village of Boughton-under-Blean which is situated half way between Canterbury and Faversham just off of the A2. Visitors can relax in the lounge by an open fire in the winter, enjoy an award-winning meal in the comfortable restaurant or soak up the sun while enjoying an excellent ale on the veranda looking out over the pleasant garden during the summer.
The Queens Head serves a delicious selection of freshly-prepared bar snacks and homemade dishes, with a blackboard of daily specials all of which you will find great value, as well as serving traditional cask ales, distinctive international lagers and a wide choice of good wines from independent producers around the world.
We are proud to offer a constantly changing range of the quintessentially Kentish ales from Shepherd Neame. Including Spitfire, Bishops Finger and Master Brew, as well as award-winning lagers, ciders and a huge range of wines.
At the heart of The Queens is the chef. Our chef – David – is also the proprietor and with his assistants delights in creating constantly changing specials using fresh local ingredients some of which are sourced from our own farm!
We are always complemented on our friendly and professional staff, who are on hand to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Dogs – goats – chickens – alpacas, oh, and of course children are welcome!
Our private beer garden is huge! It is regularly maintained by our very own gardener and gives our customers the perfect location to wind down after a stressful week at work with a pint or two of your favourite beer.

In 2012 The Queen’s Head, took the Pub Food of the Year award for its delicious and wholesome pub food and great service, and we have only got better since!
We pride ourselves on being a “pub restaurant” in the best sense of both words, a real pub with a comprehensive range of wines and cask ales, but with the space, atmosphere and quality of food (some direct from our own farm) that makes us an ideal location for any occasion. For those looking for a lunchtime snack or a smaller meal we offer a wide range of bar snacks, sandwiches and baguettes along with some more classic dishes such as ploughman’s and nachos and don’t forget the “Jenny Special” – a platter of meats and cheese created by one of our customers.
Selected for their seasonality, our ingredients really matter to us. Combined with care and freshly cooked for you, our dishes deliver the best of traditional pub food and more. Our inspired pub classics include stunning homemade pies; beer battered fish and chips or, for something lighter, try our chicken and bacon salad.
Sunday just isn’t the same without a roast dinner. Hand carved meat, fresh seasonal vegetables piled up high, some crispy roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. Traditional Sunday lunch is a speciality at The Queens, so why not gather up some friends and family and let us do the washing up this Sunday.
All of our puddings are made in house and change on an almost daily basis. David is known locally for his sometimes bizarre cheesecake creations! So whether you are looking for a light and simple dessert or a heavy-weight traditional pudding with custard we are sure we will have something to suit.
